Beste bewoners van de Kop van Blaarthem, (For English see other side!)
Maandag 2 februari was er een bijeenkomst in wijkcentrum de Dommel omtrent de door de gemeente voorgestelde verkeersmaatregelen rondom Karel de Groteplein, HOV4, Action, Botstraat, Hoogstraat, Humperdincklaan en de rest van de Kop van Blaarthem.
De afbeelding op de site van de Stichting Blaarthem, www.stichtingblaarthem.nl , laat zien wat de gemeente wil gaan doen:
- Action wordt alleen nog maar bereikbaar via de Botstraat: verkeer moet bij de Action weer keren om weg te rijden via de Botstraat. Ook bevoorrading van Action en blikjesdiscounter vindt plaats via de Botstraat als ingang en de afslag (rechts) naar de Keizer Karel V-singel (ander verkeer mag daar niet doorheen).
- Humperdincklaan wordt een doorgaande weg met tweerichting-verkeer, in- en uitrijden via Keizer Karel V singel (bij Lundi) en ook via de Glinkastraat.
- Voor de Brahmslaan wordt geen oplossing voor de overlast van vrachtverkeer richting Franz Leharplein aangedragen.
De eerder gemaakte afspraken met de gemeente en werkgroep Verkeer Blaarthem uit 2023 worden hiermee volkomen genegeerd ! Als huidige werkgroep Kop van Blaarthem en Stichting Blaarthem zijn wij verbijsterd over deze gang van zaken. De gepresenteerde keuzes van de gemeente lossen niet alleen de problemen waarover we jaren hebben gesproken NIET op, maar laten de verkeersoverlast voor de wijk VERERGEREN.
Binnenkort (rond 20 februari) vindt er op verzoek van de buurtbewoners die aanwezig waren op de presentatie een vervolggesprek plaats met de gemeente over deze plannen.
Graag willen wij als werkgroep Kop van Blaarthem (i.s.m. de Stichting Blaarthem) jullie als buurtbewoners om mandaat vragen om dit gesprek aan te gaan met als uitgangspunt de afspraken uit 2023 o.a.:
- Afsluiten Botstraat: geheel: doodlopende straat of gedeeltelijk alleen toegang vrachtwagens
- Aanpassingen Glinkastraat door toenemend verkeer tijdens ochtendspits en overlast vrachtverkeer door Glinkastraat/ Brahmslaan richting Franz Leharplein
- Afsluiten ondernemersplein voor verkeer door/ vanuit de wijk door afsluiten verbinding plein met Humperdincklaan en realiseren inprikker (vanuit Karel de Grotelaan naar plein)
- Verkeersremmende maatregelen in de Humperdincklaan

NB: Door het invoeren van betaald parkeren binnen de Ring wordt onze wijk steeds meer belast met parkeerdruk. Ook de grote hoeveelheid nieuwe bewoners binnenkort zal deze druk vergroten. We zullen in de wijk moeten afwegen of we over willen gaan op Vergunnings-parkeren. (kosten per jaar momenteel: ong. 60 euro voor 1e auto, 120 euro voor 2e auto).
We horen graag reacties uit de wijk over dit onderwerp!

Dear residents of Kop van Blaarthem,
On Monday, February 2nd, a meeting was held at the Dommel community center regarding the traffic measures proposed by the municipality around Karel de Groteplein, HOV4, Action, Botstraat, Hoogstraat, Humperdincklaan, and the rest of Kop van Blaarthem.
The image on the website of the Blaarthem Foundation, www.stichtingblaarthem.nl , shows what the municipality intends to do:
- Action will only be accessible via Botstraat: traffic will have to turn around at Action and leave via Botstraat. Deliveries to Action and the Tin Discounter will also be made via Botstraat as the entrance and the right-hand exit to Keizer Karel V-singel (other traffic will not be allowed through there).
- Humperdincklaan will become a two-way through road, with entry and exit via Keizer Karel V-singel (near Lundi) and also via Glinkastreet.
- No solution has been proposed for Brahmslaan to address the nuisance caused by freight traffic towards Franz Leharplein.
The previous agreements made with the municipality and the Blaarthem Traffic working group from 2023 are being completely ignored! As the current Kop van Blaarthem working group and the Blaarthem Foundation, we are astonished by this turn of events. The municipality’s presented options not only do NOT solve the problems we have been discussing for years, but they also WORSE traffic congestion in the neighborhood.
At the request of the residents who attended the presentation, a follow-up meeting with the municipality about these plans will take place soon (around February 20th). As the Kop van Blaarthem working group (in collaboration with the Blaarthem Foundation), we would like to ask you, the local residents, for your authorization to engage in this discussion, based on the 2023 agreements, including:
- Closure of Botstraat: entirely: dead-end street or partially, access for trucks only
- Adjustments to Glinkastraat due to increasing traffic during the morning rush hour and nuisance to trucks on Glinkastraat/Brahmslaan towards Franz Leharplein
- Closure of business square to traffic through/from the neighborhood by closing the connection to the square with Humperdincklaan and installing a connector (from Karel de Grotelaan to the square)
- Traffic calming measures on Humperdincklaan

NB: Due to the introduction of paid parking within the Ring Road, our neighborhood is experiencing increasing parking pressure. The large number of new residents will soon increase this pressure. We will have to consider within the neighborhood whether we want to switch to permit parking (current annual costs: approximately €60 for the first car, €120 for the second car). We would love to hear feedback from the neighborhood on this topic!
